Who Are We

Updates

UPDATED on November 27, 2022:
Thank you for taking the time to learn about this part of my practice.

I have decided to include this opportunity for generosity as part of my practice because I would like to continue to be able to serve the people in my community that are most in need. If you have just come from my investment page, then you already know that I operate my services on a tiered system where I ask every new client to mindfully assess their financial position and choose their pay tier based on their self-assessment. This set-up allows me to see people that would otherwise not be able to receive therapy services from me. However, the reality is that there are always more prospective clients that can only pay the lowest fee than is feasible for me to see. To counter balance this reality, I have also opened up one pro bono spot which I reserve for queer and BIPGM. Despite these adjustments I continue to see the need in my community; there continue to be people that I am unable to serve, including 9 people currently on my pro bono waitlist, and a child and family in a precarious family situation.

This is where I hope the BIPGM Therapy Fund will come in. I am hoping to tap into existing community resources to fund these prospective clients that would otherwise not receive services. Please note that this fund will not be part of an incorporated organization, and that funds would flow through me to community members. I often will not be able to provide contact information for recipients due to confidentiality requirements, and you will not be able to receive a tax deduction for any contribution. However, if you believe in the work that I am doing, and trust that these funds will be going to my client base that is most in need, then I encourage you to donate.

In exchange for you donations I will promise the following:

  1. All donations will be used to fund therapy for people who fall into the BIPGM category.

  2. I will provide full transparency about how much money has been donated into the fund, as well as how much money has been disbursed in the form of therapy sessions.

  3. If there comes a point where I fundraise more money than for which I am able to provide services (due to time constraints, capacity in case load having been reached, etc.) then I will help connect people to therapists with openings and use the funds to access services in that way.

Again, thank you for taking the time to read about this opportunity to practice generosity. If you have any questions or concerns please feel free to reach out to me to chat.

Also, if you would like to donate to an organization that is incorporated in a more traditional manner then I suggest you check out the following organizations doing similar work:
